Orthograph # 32 - The Potter and the Clay

We used to sing a song based on Romans 9:16 "Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine own way. Thou art the Potter, I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy will, while I am waiting, yielded and still".  I sang it earnestly and sincerely.  Sometimes we're surprised that God might take us at our word.

Isn't that what St Paul meant when he said: "But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also vessels of wood and earthenware, and some for honorable and noble use and some for ignoble and inglorious use"???? :-D

Yeah, but we're like people who believe in reincarnation... everyone used to be a prince or a queen or a great warrior etc. We say "You're the Potter..." but we're all thinking we'll be the good china and flower vases. No one thinks they'll be the ones taking all the crap life hands out.

Steve, this is great! I think you can market these and make some money on the side! :) Seriously though, this is a good reminder that we tend to like when God's will for us is more glorious (something like a professor who lectures and writes books for the glory of God) rather than more mundane and challenging--and as you point out, we don't think of all the crap we take in life as a part of the Divine will for our lives. Keep up the good work.
